Edinbrook Church grew from a vision!

In July of 1948 five people gathered for the first meeting of what eventually became Brooklyn Center Baptist Church.  The group was officially organized in 1952.  The first church was built in 1953 on Morgan Avenue North and Highway 100 in Brooklyn Center.  A new church building was erected on 59th and Humboldt in 1956.  A Christian Education wing was added in 1961/62.

In 1991 Brooklyn Center Baptist Church changed their name to Edinbrook Church.  The building was sold to a Korean Church group.  Our congregation began a 'different' kind of journey (not into the wilderness but different).

It was a vision fueled by the desire of members of the Brooklyn Center Baptist Church to meet the spiritual needs of its congregation while reaching out to people who needed the Savior.  After much prayer and discussion, a dream to build this congregation in a new location was formed.
 

Sunday services where held at Edinbrook Elementary School in Brooklyn Park and rented office space on 85th Avenue N.  In 1992, Edinbrook Church purchased 7 1/2 acres of land on the corner of Edinbrook Parkway and Noble Avenue N.  The first Capital Funds Drive held in 1993 made it possible for the Building Committee to develop plans for a new church building.  Edinbrook people gave sacrificially in order to purchase land and build a new place of worship.

Groundbreaking Services for the new church building were held on a beautiful morning in May 1994.  In December of 1994, after three years of meeting in a school, Edinbrook Church had a home!  A dream became reality as this congregation stepped out in faith and began a ministry in the Brooklyn Park community.  Dedication of this building was held in May of 1995.  The program consisted of greetings from former pastors, special music, a message by Pastor John Anderson followed by 'Laying of the Cornerstone'.

In February of 1996, we welcomed our current Sr. Pastor - Ivan Veldhuizen, his wife Susan and their children - Bethany, Erik and Shane.

We have only just begun!  The original vision was not to build a building, but to reach many for Christ in the northern suburbs.  That portion of our mandate is only in its infant stage...there are so many who desperately need the Savior.  We are determined to keep the vision alive and the wheels of ministry rolling.  We would be honored if you chose to become a part of what God is doing among us.
