Believers' Baptism
Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." One of Jesus' requirements included baptism in response to a personal decision to follow Him. "Therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit...(Matthew 28:19)
Jesus was baptized "to fulfill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15);  the disciples were baptized;  the early Christians were baptized;  Peter emphasized the critical nature of baptism in his first sermon by stating,
"Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 2:38).

Why Is Baptism Important?
  • Jesus commanded us to be baptized

  • It is a testimony of our conversion to Jesus Christ

  • It is the adoption ceremony God requires of us

  • It humbles us before God and others

Who Should Be Baptized?
  • Anyone who has made a commitment of their life to Christ

  • Anyone baptized as an infant, but not as a believer

  • Someone ready to be "sold out" for God

  • Someone who seeks a deeper blessing of God in their life

Does This Negate My Infant Baptism?
No.  This baptism is totally different in nature than an infant baptism.  An infant is baptized primarily as a dedication to God, but it involves no personal knowledge or decision on the part of the child.  Believers' baptism is a biblical baptism in response to a person's decision to become God's child.
